Mansfield Park, published on July 2nd -that's today- in 1814, is the longest of Jane Austen's novels...and possibly the most serious of her works. The first edition of 1250 copies sold out in six months. (which is an average of almost seven books per day) It was published after Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility.
Even in her day, readers were divided over where it ranked in comparison to her other works. They had it easier. At that time, Jane Austen had only published three books. Now there are six. And Lady Susan. An Sanditon. And...you get the idea.
As for the picture I chose, it's a close-up of a harp, which is very significant for the story.
My favorite movie adaptation (and the only one I've seen) is the 1983 BBC adaptation.
Now is Mansfield Park my favorite? No...right now it's Pride and Prejudice, because that is the re-telling that I'm working on. In a couple months, it will be Sense and Sensibility.
What about my terrific readers? What's your favorite thing about Mansfield Park?

Mansfield Park is not my favorite of Austen's, but I really think I need to read it again. I think I have seen the 1983 adaptation, and I would agree that it's the best. The more modern adaptations were a bit off, but it'd be nice if they did a new one. Are you doing a sequel based on Sense and Sensibility? That sounds fun!
My favorite thing in Mansfield Park is that Fanny Price is so sweet throughout the whole book.
