Mission

My mission at Lizzy's Library is to provide honest, reliable, and valuable reviews for a wide variety of books. I want to give readers new writers, and writers new readers. No reader wants to bother reading a pointless book and no writer wants to futilely hunt for readers. With this in mind, I have reviewed books from lesser-known authors. Yes, I enjoy Narnia, LOTR, The Wingfeather Saga, The Green Ember, and more, but those authors already have a large network. Most of the books I review do not.

Open book

As a voracious reader, I know how tragic it is to read half a book...and then something happens and you think, “How I wish that I had known that this was in it. If I had, then I would not have wasted time reading it!” I don’t think I need to elaborate on the ways that an author can ruin a book.

The reviews contain a summary of the book, and note violence, romance, and scary themes. They do not contain a suggested age range because every reader is different. I have tried to avoid spoilers, but a few may have made their way in. They are noted by “SPOILER!” I often review only the first book in each series, if the series is similar in all essential points to the first book. (my ratings include points from following books) I hope you find these reviews helpful in your literary adventures. (Click on the book to read the corresponding review) My brother has also added his seal of approval to the books that he recommends to other guys.

About the Reviews

The Conspirators' Crown is my current work in progress. It is a Space Opera retelling of Jane Austen's books. The first book is based off of Pride and Prejudice, the second is Sense and Sensibility. Does that mean that Elizabeth Bennet knows Elanor Dashwood? Yes. What about Sir Walter Eliot? He works with Frank Churchill. Furthermore, Henry Tilney, who can get along with almost anyone, can't stand Henry Crawford, although he doesn't show it. Did I mention that this all takes place in a galaxy far, far away?

About Lizzy B.

According to my research, it is customary for this kind of website to contain a bio about the author, so here it goes:

“Lizzy” is not my real name, although it is similar. Do I have another secret identity? Several. What are they? If I told you, they wouldn’t be secret! I can say that I have an interesting collection containing a tricorn hat, a Regency-era dress, and a fancy tiara.

I am a homeschool graduate and an aspiring author of fantasy and science fiction. Currently, I am working on a series called “The Conspirators’ Crown.” My work has been featured in a Funschool Thinking Tree spelling book and an extract in the American Heritage Girls Stars & Stripes Salute magazine 2024-2025. I am also the editor-in-chief for a small magazine. I have been an ARC reader for six books.

I’m a fan of Celtic music, caramel ice cream, and handmade costumes. Currently, I am located in a rather dry and windy part of Gondor called “Idaho.” My three cats ordered me to mention them. They have gotten ahold of my attention and are behaving like dragons...minus the fire and wings.
