The Land of Oddities By Arielle Zajas

Pending Brother Approval because he will like it once he reads it.

Review

Summary: Donemtchi is determined to embark on the same quest that father disappeared from: to discover what is beyond Gloleaf Glen.

Notes: Arielle Zajas has done a lot of work to make the unusual land of Fantasie. From people groups to foods, animals to a language, this book has impressive worldbuilding. Along with that is good conflict escalation: Donemtchi's journey starts out peaceful enough, but grows to where it will affect the lives of thousands. Also, the two people groups, Tlotguskies and Coleans, are like Hobbits and Elves. (Don't worry, there is a pronunciation guide in the front of the book)

Age of Main Characters: Twelve and thirteen

Violence: One character gets attacked and defends herself with a sword. There is also a battle in which children get hurt. Not super descriptive.

Romance: None...but it is mentioned in the epilogue that two characters get married.

Scary Themes: Like I said above, there is a battle in which children get hurt.

Genre: High Fantasy/Children
