The Lake Lights by William D. Burt
seal of brother approval

Review

Summary: Mysterious lights circle above Lake Oswego, Oregon. No one knows exactly what they are. Marsh gas? Ball Lightning? Or something else? Also, what's with the weird weather?

Notes: Well, you can see the cover...and can probably guess what happens. Mostly. Let me tell you, there are so many twists in this book! I love this book partly because there is a Young Earth Geological Society (YEGS) in it! As a Creationist myself, I really appreciate that. Not to mention that it -and the creation account in Genesis - are a central part of the story. (Don't get me started on Jurassic Park) Again, not enough people have read these books!

Age of Main Character: Early high school

Violence: Mad scientist, wild animals, nuclear bomb, flying cars, gun fight, fist fight, general excitement.

Romance: The main character liked a girl, but she moved away. Briefly mentioned.

Scary Themes: Lots of times you think that things could get really bad...but they don't. For example: is there a ghost? Nope. A mad scientist who wants to kill you? Well, yes...but actually not that scarry. Oh, the main character's dad is reported Missing in Action.

Genre: Science Fiction/Realistic Fiction
