Summary: Elizabeth Bennet, one of the few people who can speak to dragons, is determined not to like Fitzwilliam Darcy. He, on the other hand, may need her help in finding a missing dragon egg.
Notes: A very nice twist on “Pride and Prejudice” that I enjoyed. Maria Grace writes expecting her readers to have already read “Pride and Prejudice,” and so she doesn’t spend a lot of time going over parts that are in the original book. That would make the story line confusing if one has not read P&P. As I have (more times than I can count) there was no problem. The story line is not exactly the same as the original book, but most of the main points are. I like the twists that the author has thrown in, especially one that many Jane Austen fans think should have happened in the original book. There is a slight discrepancy between the paragraphs. Some of them feel like they are straight from Jane Austen, some of them are more modern. One drawback: bouts of British swearing
Age of main character: Elizabeth is twenty, Darcy is twenty-eight.
Violence: Death, kidnapping, dragons,
Romance: Obviously. Exactly like P&P, but with parts from Mr. Darcy’s point of view.
Scary themes: What Lydia’s bad behavior leads to (same as book), manipulative characters, dragon and human relation politics.
Genre: Gaslamp Fantasy/Fan Fiction
