Summary: Camp Classic is just a normal camp for classically educated students, with orchestra practice, theater, Latin class, and so on...but why is there a castle on an island on Lake Superior? And why are all the staff...unusual?

Notes: Great adventure! Levi Prince does have a hard time obeying those in authority, and that gets him into difficulties. If you are getting this book to give your son a literary role model...don't pick this one. (Try anything by Chuck Black, William Burt, or Wayne Thomas Batson) If you are getting this book for your son as a fantastic adventure with a realistic, relatable main character (not that the other books don't have realistic characters...just that if your son wants a character more...normal) then check this one out. One note on theology: the author is a Christian who puts elves, etc. into the real world. Ok, so how does that work out? Unlike "Raising Dragons," everyone is either human or not, there is no part-way. When the elves, etc. die, they cease to exist...but they live a lot longer than humans. Personally, I like this better than "Raising Dragons."

Age of Main Character: thirteen in first book, sixteen in the fourth.

Violence: Kidnapping, sorceresses, evil dwarves, bullies (human), dragons, think fantasy violence mixed with camp.

Romance: He obviously likes one of the girls, and a different girl (in a future book) has a huge crush on him, but the story isn't told from her point of view, so we only get Levi's view...which is that it is terribly awkward.

Scary Themes: the afore-said violence...and the characters don't know who to trust half the time.

Genre: Low Fantasy/bit of mystery
