Summary: Lily McKinley's father is missing, her mother is overworked, and to top it all off, a dragon just ate her dinner!
Notes: Here is another book, similar to Dreamtreaders, where the dream world in breaking into the real world...but this time the characters aren't trained defenders. This book is also for a slightly younger audience than Dreamtreaders. In the dream world, there are all sorts of animals and creatures, from greedy harpies to swashbuckling pirates, from evil shrouds to a dragon with a British accent. If you are prone to nightmares, don't read this book before bed. I am, and I did, so I know. And I did it again the next night. (Also, the author, Kathryn Butler writes for Story Warren. Don't know what that is? It's kinda like the Inklings. S.D. Smith and Andrew Peterson are part of it)
Age of Main Character: Twelve
Violence: Yes. Falling off cliff and waterfalls, facing a balrog-like creature, getting generally injured. Not too gory...but the author was a trauma surgeon...so that comes out. She knows about a lot of different injuries.
Romance: Just between Lily's parents.
Scary Themes: The afore-said violence, along with kidnapping, a missing father, getting lost in creepy caves inhabited by evil, a plague that is destroying the dream world, dragons, etc.
Genre: Low Fantasy
