Storybound

Storybound, Storybound #1, by Marrisa Burt

Summary: What if all the stories you read were created in another world?

Notes: Who doesn't love a book about books? Imagine walking around a film district where everyone is wearing their costumes still. Dryads, vampires, astronauts, princesses, talking animals, and so on. That is what this world is like. Now, a note on the King. Is this an allegory? Nope! But like every good book, this book reflects the truest Story. A king who will save his people, even if it means his own death. The King doesn't show up until the second book...but he is the most relaxed king in any book I've read! He knows what is going to happen, so he doesn't worry about it, even if the rest of the characters are. Now, the Muses. They are Servants of the King, and all that...not false gods. Oh, and there's this one character that you think might be a witch, but a good witch...maybe. She gave up the Dark Arts before the story starts, so don't worry. Una Fairchild (the main character) does save the world. Well, tries to. The King really saves the world. By the way, there is mentioned swearing, not written. What does that mean? Example: "Peter swore under his breath."

Age of Main Character: Twelve

Violence: Dead people walking around (in the second book), large battles, rampant destruction.

Romance: Just between grown-ups. Umm...there's one couple that I assumed were married, but the book never specifically calls them husband and wife. After reading the author's page, I think she ment for them to be married.

Scary Themes: There is a Red Enchantress who is creepy...and her husband is worse. And there are the Taless...they are storybook villains who are SPOILER!!! ripped out of their story and put inside of dead bodies that then walk around. The bodies don't last very long, and look like the crew of the Black Pearl.

Genre: High Fantasy/older children's
