Summary: Johann's story begins with his father, who builds a life for himself on a farm, then onto Johann who is determined to scale the glass hill.
Notes: If you have read the fairy tale "The Princess on the Glass Hill," then this book will feel familiar. The next book is not based off of a fairytale, and the third is loosely based of off "The Princess and the Pea." The story is delightful, and is Christian, with bible verses woven throughout. The writing itself is good, and understandable for younger readers, without long, complicated sentences. The author is an Indie (short for independent, which is a self-published author) and you can tell...mostly by the book's paper. (If you're considering being an indie, use off-white paper, like traditional publishers)
Age of Main Character: grows up throughout the book, but most of the time, he is a young adult.
Violence: Minor injuries.
Romance: Yes, but not mushy
Scary Themes: The father appears to love his two older sons better than the youngest. The boy's mother dies when he is little.
Genre: Historical Fiction/Adventure/Reads like fantasy
