Alliance Bride by Jaye L. Knight

Review

Summary: Eadlyn will marry to protect her people...if that is what she must do. Aevar did not sign up to meet with another country to find a bride. In fact, that was the last thing he expected to be doing!

Notes: I liked this book and, if it becomes a series, will be buying the next books. It was a little...mushier than I was expecting. (Still appropriate) yes, it was violent, but I was expecting that, having read Jaye L. Knight's other books. You can hear many of the thoughts in the two main character's heads, which is why it's mushy. Seriously, they just got married for an alliance and neither of them wanted to be married. I did like that the villains got pounded. It seems that is the way that Vikings solve problems...even some of the girls!

Age of Main Character: old enough to get married

Violence: abuse mentioned, a nearby people group does human sacrifice, Viking raids, attempts to avoid war, general pounding of troublesome people.

Romance: Yes. The couple gets married for an alliance and falls in love after the fact. You hear a lot of what is going on in their heads, so mushy at times.

Scary Themes: Slavery, self-doubt, getting married to someone you just met that day, all the worries that go with it, human sacrifice. Also...several men won't leave Eadlyn alone until her husband and brothers-in-law pound them.

Genre: Historical Fiction
